Healing with Acupressure
Acupressure is the stimulation, or the release, of excess
energy at specific points along the body's meridians.
Whereas the aura is the energy field surrounding the
body, the meridians are the energy fields within the
body, comparable to the longitudes and latitudes of
the planet. |

Acupressure Points
There are 12 meridians: eleven
have a function connected to a different organ in the
body. One meridian is known as the 'triple warmer' which
regulates temperatures in various parts of the body.
According to Chinese theory, each organ carries an emotional
energy and a physical energy. For instance, points along
the liver meridian may be due to anger, as well as digestive
problems or toxins, because the liver processes toxins
and unresolved anger. The small intestine processes
food but on an emotional level can relate to difficulties
in sorting out your life or indicate challenges coming
to you. |

Acupressure Treatments
An acupressure treatment,
a massage with attention focused on these points, is
sometimes enough to help the energy to flow again. Manipulating
the points on a meridian will help move the energy.
Manipulation of other meridians connected to the problem
helps guide the energy to where it belongs. Acupressure
treatments can help relieve pain, support organ weakness,
relieve menstrual symptoms, as well as relax and restore
balance to physical, mental and emotional being. Acupressure
is a gentle therapy to address your dis-ease before
it becomes disease and when used in conjunction with
herbs and other modalities can help strengthen and support
when disease is present in your being. |

Acupressure FAQs
Q: When is Acupressure called for?
A: When issues in your life or lifestyle are cutting
off a healthy flow of energy, pockets of energy pool
along the associated meridians. Pain occurs where
energy is stagnating. If energy has been blocked for
a long period of time, or a severe disorder is apparent,
additional complementary therapeutic methods may be
used to make a shift and stimulate the body into relieving
stagnation. A complementary method might include Tragar—a
gentle rocking which helps open up the joints. Sometimes
addressing the emotion is enough. Solutions depend
on the situation and are customized to individual
needs.
Q: Is Acupressure painful?
A: Acupressure can actually be quite pleasurable
to release painful blockages and to receive massage
but occasionally a point or points along the meridians
may be overloaded and very painful. At these points
I try to be gentle and can even work off the body
in severe cases.
Q: How many acupressure treatments will it take?
A: That can vary due to the condition and how long
you have had it. Often, even chronic conditions have
been known to be completely relieved in one session,
with occasional maintenance to keep in balance. Deeper
emotional issues may need more time to release. With
guided visualization, some people may recognize a
pattern from childhood or even a past life that changes
how they look at the present. This can be a quick
way to get to a problem that has nagged you for years
or there may be layers to unfold over time.
Q: How long is an acupressure session and what does it cost?
A: In most cases an acupressure session will last for one hour
on the table for which I charge $110, 1 1/2 hrs is $200
and 2 hrs. $290. The consultation is free and will
depend on your individual needs and may include suggestions
for herbal remedies, aromatherapy, exercises, nutrition,
meditations, etc. The Retreat sessions vary in cost as to how many weeks is planned and the location, whether it is a group session or individual.

| Energy runs from the source throughout
your body. Healing energy is centered in your
palms and fingertips. It comes from your heart.
Your heart wants to heal your body and feed it.
Your mind makes decisions about what and how you
are fed, yet your mind can lead you astray. Internal
dialog may be the voice of your mother, father,
child, friend, or your past. Get out of your head
and go into your heart. Be true to your heart.
Find your own truth. If it is the truth from your
heart, not your head or your ego, it will be your
path. |
